Expectations for Election To the AWRF Board of Directors

Term starts after Fall General Meeting

You will be introduced at Fall Meeting during one of the General Sessions.

You will be assigned to a committee by the incoming President shortly after the Fall General Meeting.

Board of Directors Meetings

Your first official Board of Directors meeting is the Winter Board meeting held in January and spans two days currently a Wednesday and Thursday (both days are morning sessions, approximately 7:30 AM until noon).

Next board meeting is on the Sunday morning at the Spring General meeting and is a half day (again approximately from 7:30 AM until noon).

Summer Board Meeting- held in July, it is the same format as the Winter Board meeting (Wednesday-Thursday 7:30 AM until noon).

The last board meeting of the year is on the Sunday morning of the Fall General Meeting and follows the same format at the Spring General meeting.

Attendance

In order to complete agenda items in a timely manner, punctual mandatory attendance is required at all Board meetings. Any Director not planning to attend a meeting is required to give the President and AWRF Office advance written notice at the earliest time possible, including the reason for not attending (i.e. personal health, family issues, etc.). Missing two consecutive board meetings may remove you from the board. (As stated in the BOD By-Laws).

Board members are also expected to be active participants on committees and during board meetings. Committee assignments are made no later than November 10th for the upcoming year.

It is encouraged that all Board members attend and participate in all AWRF functions. It is important as a representative of the board that we make ourselves available to the membership to get their input, hear any concerns and get feedback on meetings and AWRF business in general. That includes:

General meetings and their sessions Spring and Fall

Scheduled member/attendee receptions.

First Timers' receptions at the Spring and Fall General meetings (this is held on Sunday prior to the opening reception).
